BRINGING SCARY BACK
1891 London was rife with sin… was rife with psychological exploration. John Logan, Creator/Executive Producer
As foolhardy audiences excitedly await the imminent arrival of Penny Dreadful’s many fearful faces to our television screens, Showtime have released a new teaser trailer highlighting the show’s classical origins, and how it plans to dismember and stitch them back together, à la Frankenstein’s monster, in hope of reigniting viewers’ diminishing sense of fear. Show creator John Logan discusses rediscovering Victorian horror and high-fantasy tales such as Dracula and The Picture of Dorian Grey through brand new horrified eyes which peered into the true terrors experienced by celebrated authors such as Bram Stoker, Mary Shelley, and Oscar Wilde during their time in London. Starring Josh Hartnett, Eva Green, and veteran Brit actor Timothy Dalton, Penny Dreadful premieres on Showtime Sunday, May 11th, at 10PM ET/PT, and will arrive on UK shores via Sky Atlantic later this year.
